This is the most beautiful painting! I feel lucky and blessed that I came across it! My husband and I honeymooned in Mo’orea and we had taken many pictures in front of this church. To find that Greg Collins painted it was such a joy! We will treasure it forever!

I was super-pleased with my photo print purchase! Like many people, I’m sure, when making online purchases there’s always just a little voice of skepticism in the back of my mind. I knew I liked the image, but had to roll the dice that it would look good in person, the frame would be adequate, etc. I must say it exceeded even my hopeful expectations! First of all, the packing was stellar. The photo print did look great in person, and the framing was WAY better than I was expecting! It was ready to go with a sturdy hanging wire already in place. Unfortunately it was a gift, so I don’t have a photo of it on my wall! I did, however, open and inspect it before wrapping it and re-shipping (in the same stellar packing!). I would easily recommend FineArtAmerica and will happily shop with them again in the future…worry free!

"Interlude", oil, 36x24", 2020 by David Tanner
Complex figurative compositions are my first love, so this is a painting I'm enthusiastic to introduce. Cameron is an artist friend who lives in my town, Richmond, Virginia. He's an abstract painter who is also a very talented musician. This painting was inspired by watching and listening to him play his trumpet while I was visiting his studio. I did some oil sketching on location.
My impression was "Jackson Pollack Meets Chet Baker", the two 1950's cultural icons. The jazz trumpet player and singer Chet Baker, and the abstract painter Jackson Pollack, as if their spirits somehow intertwined in this contemporary artist's melding of painting and music.

My name is David Tanner and I am a representational oil painter. I live and work in Richmond, Virginia. My first love as a painter is depicting the human figure, but I also enjoy plein-air landscape painting and still-life. Background & Training: As a kid, I loved drawing and painting, and thankfully had encouraging parents. When it came time for college, there was no question that I would study art, although what kind of art wasn’t so clear. I had never met anyone who actually made a living as an artist. So, I studied commercial illustration at Virginia Commonwealth University because it seemed like a financially viable career choice in the arts, and got my BFA degree in 1991.
